As a graduate of the renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC and Colorado’s Nutrition Therapy Institute, I bring together a comprehensive and holistic approach to nutrition, emphasizing the unique and dynamic needs of each individual. You are what you eat...
Literally. What you consume becomes a part of you - the very fabric of your cells, your tissues, organs, and even your emotions and thoughts. But it isn't a one-way road. It it were, it would be easy to maintain health and wellbeing by choosing the "right" foods. Yet even the most nutritious of meals may be assimilated poorly if you are stressed or see food as "the enemy". What you eat matters, but so does how, why, and when you eat. And these choices are, in turn, shaped by your beliefs and emotions. Thus, while we are what we eat, we also tend to eat in a way that reflects or echoes who it is we think we are.
Our relationship to food is the most intimate relationship we experience. Food creates, restores, nourishes, and nurtures our life energy. Its effect are immediate and profound, communicating with us through all five senses (though we tend to operate consciously with only one or two at meal times). While conventional nutrition operates with the belief that there is something wrong with you that needs to be fixed, an integrated and holistic approach sees you as whole and unique. We don't separate what you eat from what is, well, eating you! This is not about dieting, will power, deprivation, or the breakdown of foods into their chemical constituents . It isn't about a one-size-fits-all plan with rules, charts, or equations to follow. Real nutrition is about how you feed yourself on every level, as a whole and dynamic being. It is about discovering what nourishes you as an individual and what feeds your extraordinary life. Everything you bring to the proverbial table will affect your wellbeing and health.
My goal is to help you reconnect with your body's innate and profound wisdom so that you can cultivate lasting health and wellbeing on every level. We will look at what you eat, certainly. But we will also address the how, why and when of the equation in an effort to identify where you may be experiencing conflict and dis-ease. At ROOT, you are seen as a unique individual with specific and ever-changing needs.
